Pick-up/Drop-off Instructions

Important!
-It may be a good idea to call your volunteer partner before hand and arrange where and when to meet. It doesn’t matter how you do it, but the cafe managers love it when we’re on time for pickups, and some will go ahead and throw out the food if we come late.
Everyone (to get trays, can do day of or beforehand):
– Pick up treys to load food from the new Center for Community Partnerships. Trays are outside Allbritton, in the loading dock. You may leave some in your car so you don’t have to pick them up every week. For the code, as the coordinators.

Summerfields:
1. Call Summerfields before you go over to see if they have any food at 860-685-3270.
2. Drive up Huber Ave to the Summerfield’s loading dock. Go up to the green door and call the office (same number as above).
3. Joe and Ahmed are the managers, and one of them will be there and will let you in. They will have bread ready for you, and leftover hot food if there is any. (And they already have trays so it should be completely ready to go, though bring extras to trade them/in case they run out)
4. That’s it for Summerfields! Drive to Eddy Shelter.

Usdan:
1. As always, pick up trays first- instructions above.
2. Drive up Wyllys Avenue and park at the loading dock next to Usdan, or if occupied, park in the Admissions lot.
3. Take the elevator in Usdan down to the basement, turn left and go to the Bon Apetit office next to the stairwell. Say you’re with food rescue, and ask for Ernie, Philip, or one of the sous chefs, and they should help with getting the food and putting it in the car.
4. Head to the Eddy Shelter!

Pi Cafe:
1. Trays!
2. Drive up Lawn Avenue and park behind Exley.
3. Go into Pi and ask for Rich, the manager (also one of the coolest guys in the universe). Tell him you’re with food salvage and he’ll give you what food they have left over.
4. Put food back into car and go to Eddy Shelter.
To Eddy Shelter (it’s not as complicated as it looks, but this is in case you don’t have a GPS):
The exact address is 1 LaBella Circle.  From Wes you will either make your way to route 9 south or you will travel from the main street area.  From 9 south, take exit 12 which is the Silver street/CVH campus exit.  You will take a left onto Silver street and continue to go straight and you will travel up a fairly steep hill.  Continue going straight and at the second traffic light you will take a left.  There are several buildings in the area and there are a couple of parking areas.  Continue to travel straight and then bare right (because the road forks).  The three story brick building on the right is us.  You can park right in front towards the middle of the building.  You will see an entrance with an awning covering it-that is the main entrance and the staff office is visible as soon as you enter the building.  From Wes you can travel from Washington street towards route 9.  Instead of getting on the highway you can take a right onto DeKoven Drive.  You will pass the court house, the back of Destinta Movie Theater, an apartment complex, Rite Aid, Middletown plate and glass on the left side, CT Rental on the left side and at the next traffic light, you will be in front of Glenn Automotive.  Take a left onto Silver street.  As you drive down this road you will pass the post office on your left, continue to go straight and you will travel up a fairly steep hill.
